This guide will help you get started with Beaver Builder, showing you how to open the editor, make simple updates to your pages, and understand the basics of how the editing system works.
Beaver Builder is an easy-to-use visual editing system, allowing you to edit content directly on the page and see your changes in real time.
Accessing Beaver Builder
There are two main ways to open Beaver Builder:
Option 1: From the front-end of your website
If you’re logged in and viewing your website, you’ll see a dark bar at the top of the screen. Click “Beaver Builder” to launch the editor.
Option 2: From the WordPress dashboard
Go to Pages, hover over the page you want to edit, and click “Beaver Builder”.
Important:
If a page has already been built using Beaver Builder, always use the “Beaver Builder” link. Avoid clicking “Edit” or “Edit Page” for content editing, as this opens the standard WordPress editor, and will not include the page layout.
Understanding the editing Interface
Once Beaver Builder is open, you’ll notice:
- A bar at the top of the screen (with the Beaver Builder logo)
- Your page content displayed exactly as visitors see it
When you move your mouse over the page, different areas will highlight – these are the sections you can edit.
Editing text
To update text on your page:
- Click directly on the text you want to edit.
- A settings box will appear.
- Update the wording as needed.
- Click Save.
Changing images
To replace an image:
- Click on the image.
- In the settings box, click Remove.
- Upload a new image or choose one already uploaded to your website’s media library.
- Click Save.
In most cases, you can ignore the more advanced settings.
Editing other content (e.g. testimonials, lists)
Some sections (such as testimonials, carousels or lists) contain multiple items.
You can typically open individual items to edit them, or add, reorder or remove items.
Global blocks
If you see an orange outline around a section, this means it’s a global block.
Global blocks are sections that are reused across multiple pages. If you edit one, the changes will automatically update everywhere this section is used. This can be especially helpful for common sections, such as contact boxes, that may appear throughout your website.
Saving and publishing your changes
When you’ve finished editing:
- Click Done (top right)
- Click Publish
Your updates will then be live on your website.
Automatic saving
Beaver Builder automatically saves your work as you go, helping to protect your changes if your browser or internet connection is interrupted.
To undo any edits, press CTRL + Z (Windows) to revert your last change. You can also access the editing history and previous revisions (save points) from the menu in the top-left corner of the screen.
